A Rehabilitation Centre for Physically Challenged People

Asmita is a social, cultural & educational institute establishedin the slum areas of Jogeshwari, Mumbai. A specialized center for rehabilitation of physically challenged people is formed at B-22, Kalyani Kendra, Gr. Floor, Hanuman Tekdi, Ashokvan, Borivali (East), Mumbai – 400 066. (Contact No. 02228973400) in the year 1989.

To make physically challenged people self sufficient through skill training & development and make them live their life in better way with self pride.

Mission

To serve and empower the deprived community of physically challenged people,provide them medical facilities and make them aware about their capabilities by proper counselling.

ASMITA surveys areas & identifies beneficiaries for rehabilitation. We ensure that the beneficiaries identified for training are trained in various professional skills and made them self-sufficient. This training is free of cost. During Training ASMITA also provides them free facilities like counselling, physiotherapy treatment, breakfast, transport, equipments, financial assistance to get them self employed.

Professional Skills

• Sewing –  Making bags of various patterns
• Crafts – Making paper bags / flowers & Bouquets / Flower Decorations
•  Painting –  Greetings, Calligraphy & Fabric Painting
• Computer Education –  Basics of computer
• Gardening – Nursery

During training period honorarium is paid to trainees as per their productivity. We organize/participate in stalls/exhibitions and sell products prepared during training. This increases their income and gives them confidence.

Facilities provided during training

• Counselling – A regular counselling of physically challenged people alongwith their parents is essential and doneon regular basis.
• Physiotherapy treatment – Physiotherapy is given  wherever required. If any surgery is necessary, it is arranged with the help of donors.
• Breakfast – Daily healthy breakfast is provided.
• Transport – Transport facility is made available.
• Equipments – Equipments like callipers, wheelchair, tricycle etc are provided with the help of donors.
• Financial assistance – If required , financial aid is given to make them self dependent.
• Education fees – Educational fees of their children are arranged from donors on demand.

Cultural Activity

We have our  orchestra of physically challenged people “Hum Bhi Kisise Kum Nahi”. It gives them a platform to show their hidden talent. We arrange programme as per your requirement.

About Hindu Spiritual And Service Fair 2019

This fair was a well organized programme which helped us to reach many people during short period of just 3 days only. Also new volunteers  have shown their willingness  to work for our NGO.
